There is no right or wrong way to brew a chai or hot chocolate, with practice you may even discover your own unique technique to brew your perfect cup. Read on and discover various simple methods for brewing the perfect beverage at home.

Brewing Sticky Chai

Stovetop Method -
The traditional way

Add 2 heaped teaspoons and 1/4 cup of water to a pot and simmer for 1 minute to infuse. Add 1 cup of milk/mylk and simmer for a further 2-3 minutes (DON’T BOIL). Strain and enjoy.

Coffee Machine -
For a cafe like chai latte

Add 2 heaped teaspoons and a small amount of boiling water to your milk jug (just enough to cover the chai) and leave to infuse for 1 minute. Add 1 cup of milk/mylk and steam, leave to infuse for 2 minutes. Strain and enjoy.

Teapot Method -
For those who don’t like it too strong and less milky

Add 2 heaped teaspoons and 1/2 cup of boiling water to your teapot and leave to infuse for 1 minute. Add 1 cup of hot milk/mylk, leave to infuse for 3 minutes and enjoy. Double quantities for tea for two. 

 

Brewing Drinking Chocolate

Stovetop method

Add 2 teaspoons and 1/4 cup of water to a pot on heat and stir until smooth. Add roughly 1 cup of milk/mylk and heat until steaming and enjoy.

Microwave method

Add 2 teaspoons and 1/4 cup of boiling water to a mug and stir. Add roughly 1 cup of milk or mylk and heat in microwave for 30 second bursts until beverage is desired temperature and enjoy.

Coffee machine method

Add 2 teaspoons and a small amount of boiling water to your milk jug and stir until smooth. Top with roughly 1 cup of milk/mylk, steam and enjoy.
