What is Sticky Chai?

If we had a dollar for every time we had been asked this question... we would have enough to shout you all a chai!

'Sticky Chai' means that the chai blend has been blended with something that is sticky, this may also be called 'wet chai' or 'honey chai'. The honey adds a slight sweetness but is mainly there to preserve the spices and bind the flavours, with honey being the only known ingredient on earth with no expiry date!

Sticky chai and chai latte are both variations of the popular known spiced tea, but they differ in preparation and taste. Sticky chai is a blend of black tea and spices, often infused with honey or other sweeteners like agave, rice malt syrup or coconut nectar, resulting in a sticky consistency and intense flavour!

Chai latte on the other hand is a broader term referring to any spiced tea with milk which could be made from various forms like powders, concentrates or loose leaf tea. These powders are often very sweet and are packed full of milk powders and sugar.

Concentrates are also something relatively new to the market and often seen as great for convenience but what that offer in convenience they lack in that spicy punch needed for a nice cup of chai.

Sticky Chai vs Chai Latte - we know which we would be choosing!

There is only one type that is our cup of tea and that is the traditional way - a loose leaf Sticky Chai which we have you covered for!

Our Original Sticky Masala Chai and our Chocolate Orange Spiced Chai both use a local Victorian Honey in their blend, while our Coconut Blossom Nectar Vegan Chai uses coconut nectar and agave syrup, making it suitable for those on a plant based diet.
